The Starting Line

Pennsylvanian punk-poppers the Starting Line originally came together in 1999 via version 2.0 of the old "vocalist wanted" flyer hanging at the local record store. Guitarist Matt Watts was playing with a few bands throughout his teenage years, but after seeing Ken Vasoli's AOL profile, he invited him to jam. Vasoli was soon installed as the bassist and singer, joining Watts, second guitarist Mike Golla, and drummer Tom Gryskiewitz to form Sunday Drive. Though barely out of high school, Sunday Drive started lining up shows and recording demos, and aggressively marketed everything with the aid of buddy old pal AOL and listings on MP3.com. Cali indie We the People took notice of the MP3s and soon offered a deal; however, punk-pop powerhouse Drive-Thru saw an opportunity in the group's fresh faces and accessible melodies, and swooped in to take control of the resulting demos. Sunday Drive wasn't going to argue -- with its highly successful roster (Something Corporate, Midtown, etc.) and Geffen distribution deal, Drive-Thru was a dream come true. By 2000, the quartet had become the Starting Line, and issued the With Hopes of Starting Over EP. Warped Tour dates followed, the band's Internet presence remained strong, and when its debut full-length, Say It Like You Mean It, dropped in 2002, it was met with enthusiastic kid support. The band again spent the summer as part of its second Warped Tour, and its video clip for the heartfelt emo pop ballad "Best of Me" did quite well at MTV2. The Make Yourself at Home EP appeared before the year's end. In May 2005, the band issued their sophomore effort, Based On A True Story. Performance dates on the annual Vans Warped Tour followed that summer and even though their popularity increased, Geffen de-prioritized the album and gave very little promotional support to the single. After the group wiggled free from their contract, Virgin president Jason Flom caught one of their live shows and scooped up the band to his label. In 2007, the group began recording Direction, an album dedicated to their brand of concise, straight-forward, pop-punk tunes.

Bring Me The Horizon!!!

For BMTH, it all started in March 2004, when these 5 kids got together from the ashes of a collection of defunct bands and started to write some music. Taking their influences from bands such as Norma Jean, The Red Chord and many of the heavier American metal-core acts, the newly formed band soon started turning heads. Much more attention followed, building rapidly after playing shows across the UK with the likes of Zao, The Nothing, Shaped by Fate and Johnny Truant. A rabid, hungry, loyal and HUGE fan-base started to grow and their shows became busier and busier. They didn't have any boundaries or rules, they just wrote what they wanted to hear and play.

Then they played shows......and kids moshed......and they kept playing shows......and kids kept moshing......

Bring Me the Horizon (often abbreviated to 'BMTH') are a deathcore[3] band from Sheffield, Yorkshire. The band formed in the year 2004 from members of other bands within their local area.[4] They have incorporated elements of death metal and metalcore in their music, resulting in their genre best being described as deathcore.[5]

They are currently signed to Visible Noise Records, but were originally signed to Thirty Days of Night Records. They were the first band to be signed to that label. They have toured in the past with bands such as Lostprophets (headline), The Blackout[6]; Killswitch Engage (headline) and The Haunted[7]. They did a headlining tour of the UK during March and April of 2007 with the now defunct metalcore band I Killed The Prom Queen.

They played Download Festival 2007 in June also with Iron Maiden, Slayer and others.[8]

In November 2007 they toured on the Australian leg of Gigantour, playing three dates. They are returning to Australia in May/June 2008, appearing on I Killed The Prom Queen's final tour.

Bring Me the Horizon have been writing and recording a second studio album over the beginning of 2008. They have been in Sweden recording the album throughout April and May with Fredrik Nordstrom, who has worked with bands like At The Gates, Arch Enemy, I Killed The Prom Queen, and Dimmu Borgir. It is scheduled to be released on September 22, 2008.

Incident in Nottingham

While on tour in the United Kingdom allegations were made against vocalist Oliver Sykes that he urinated upon and then assaulted a female fan after a gig at Nottingham Rock City when she allegedly refused his sexual advances. Sykes was subsequently charged with urinating on the fan, but not with physical assault.[9] Online Music Zine Drowned In Sound claimed that Bring Me The Horizon were banned from Nottingham Rock City.[10] However the band's label Visible Noise denied these rumours and the band subsequently played Nottingham Rock City on December 1, 2007.[11]

On April 13, Sykes appeared in Nottingham Magistrates Court on a charge of common assault relating to the alleged urination incident, to which he pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned until early May.[12] On 3 May 2007 Sykes attended Nottingham Magistrates court for the second time and confirmed his not guilty plea. The case was adjourned again until 17 September.[13] Due to lack of evidence, all charges against Sykes were dropped. [14
